A foundation (also a charitable foundation) is a legal categorization of nonprofit organizations that will typically either donate funds and support to other organizations, or provide the source of funding for its own charitable purposes.  This type of non-profit organization differs from a private foundation which is typically endowed by an individual or family.Typically, charitable foundations have a mission of helping underprivileged individuals, or even countries, in different ways and situations. Their scope is wide, encompassing anything from helping people who canĀ“t afford an education in securing one, to providing food and shelter for the homeless, or supplying medical treatment for patients suffering from a specific condition.
